Meet Cindy

Cindy graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Southern California in 1994. Cindy has worked with a wide range of populations in a variety of settings. Her work at Children's Hospital Oakland included experience with traumatic burn injury, infant neonatal feeding, post surgical hand rehabilitation, dysphagia treatment, acute rehabilitation, and outpatient sensory integration. She continued her work with the Children's Hospital Oakland Autism Intervention program where she helped develop the occupational therapy component of the program.

 

Since then, her focus has been in sensory processing. Cindy has continued to maintain her learning by taking a broad range of courses in sensory integrative principles, DIR/Floortime techniques, cognitive perceptual organization, and visual motor integration. She is trained to use a variety of therapeutic techniques such as advanced Therapeutic Listening, the Alert Program, Handwriting without Tears, vestibular integration, spatial and temporal organization, and oral motor techniques.

 

Cindy was a therapeutic consultant for Beyond Play providing feedback about appropriateness of toys for children with special needs. She is certified to use Therapeutic Listening, Alert Program and has an Advanced Practice Certification through the California Board of Occupational Therapy in Swallowing Assessment, Evaluation or Intervention (SWC). Cindy was recognized by the Metropolitan Who's who in Occupational Therapy in 2007. Cindy is also certified with It's Yoga Kids to teach yoga to children and their families. She continues to enjoy her work with children and their families working closely with the child's team to ensure maximal carry over of therapeutic techniques into all aspects of their lives. In her spare time, she likes to travel, do Tahitian dancing, and dragonboating.
